NuWray Grand Opening
Join us as we celebrate a historic moment in our story
North Carolina's oldest hotel is experiencing a revival…
Over the course of three years, this historic building has undergone a full restoration and has been re-opened bit by bit. The final piece is the hotel restaurant, which is set to open at the end of May. Join us for a month of events celebrating how far we've come, and help us usher in a new era for the NuWray!
How Can I Participate?
Thursday, May 1
10am–8pm
Housewarming & Open House
This is a chance for the public to see the rooms and learn the history behind them. The entire hotel, including all rooms, will be open, allowing you to browse and learn. Docents on each floor will fill you in on the details and history behind each uniquely named room and other areas of the hotel.

Small bites and beverages from the lobby bar will be available starting at 4pm

The NuWray dining room will be set for dinner so you can preview what the restaurant will look like

The event is free to the public

The evening will end with the last fire of the season in the lobby fireplace!
Friday, May 30
5pm – 10pm
Restoration Shindig
Celebrate with us the opening of the hotel's new restaurant, and the completed restoration of the NuWray!

The Shindig will begin with our official ribbon cutting on the front porch at 5pm. Afterward, we'll migrate to the backyard, where guests will have an opportunity to purchase a $20 plate for a BBQ Buffet from our Smok-o-Motive. Roland's Bar will be open, and live music will be provided by local favorites Dylan Wilson and the Stardust Cowboys.

We hope you'll join us as we mark the end of the long journey to our full opening, and celebrate all that will come next! The NuWray restaurant will officially open to the public at 5pm on Saturday, 5/31.
