The NuWray Hotel offers 26 unique rooms between two historic buildings. From the old world charm of the main hotel to the more modern Carriage House building, each room has its own distinct character and feel. NuWray Rooms

Experience the charm of staying in North Carolina's oldest continuously operating hotel. Though newly restored, the NuWray still retains its age and wisdom — through creaky original wood floors, historic windows with single pane glass, and original wood elements re-used in new ways. The 22 rooms in the main hotel all have en-suite bathrooms and are spread across three floors. Every room is unique — in shape, in decoration, in name, and the story it tells — though they all are designed to provide modern comfort in a historic setting.

Carriage House Rooms
Located just behind the NuWray Hotel at 7 S. Main St., the Carriage House rooms are on the second floor above our sister restaurant, Carriage House Sundries, a bustling cafe, bar, and wine & cigar shop. The building originally housed the carriages that brought NuWray guests into town and sleeping quarters for the chauffeurs.
These rooms feature mixed elements such as exposed brick, warm wood trim, and original tin ceilings. Each is decorated with art by local painters, in homage to the building's prior use as the Burnsville Painting School. In the Carriage House, we have 2 Double Queen rooms, 1 Double King room, and a full apartment with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and living/dining space, suitable for extended stays.
